Design Language
The Reading Room is a literary essay blog for a single author — the digital study of a senior academic. Warm-tinted OKLCH colors on a paper-grain background, a serif-dominant three-typeface system (Merriweather / Source Sans 3 / Source Code Pro), a constrained 36 em reading column with a sticky sidebar, and zero photography. Every visual impression comes from typographic craft, the warm amber accent, and the subtle paper texture overlay. ---

Design Skill
**Audience:** Solo authors, literary critics, academics, essayists, book reviewers — anyone publishing long-form writing under their own name. **Use cases:** Personal essay blogs, literary criticism sites, academic writing portfolios, book review columns, reading journals, professor/author homepages. **Brand personality:** Scholarly warmth. This is a professor's study rendered as a website — erudite but inviting, rigorous but never cold. The tone says "I have strong opinions about sentences and I will share them at length." Think a private library with a banker's lamp, not a lecture hall. ---
